The things you learn when working on other peoples boxes...
- Make sure there is only one version of perl installed (remove that /usr/bin/perl5.01)
- If you want mod_so (you most likely do) don't even attempt to compile mod_perl into apache, it will seg-fault when running
- If your perl is compiled for large file support, disable it in mod_perl, (PERL_USELARGEFILES=0 when running perl Makefile.PL) otherwise it won't work when installed with apxs - it will seg-fault.
- If you want large file support, you need to compile mod_perl into apache, and that isn't very happy with mod_so .
I'm tired :)

Hi,
This is a doubt of a developer from China, I started to look for the answer and founded your virtual host configuration note... So, I've installed apache2 over redhat7.3 and virtually, I don't known anything about virtual host, but you do. Like Chen Fu , I have the same problem, hosting available here in Chile (where I live) do not support MapServer due to PostgreSQL/PostGIS/PHP/MapServer recipe needed, and that you need to convince them (and teach) how to install. The solution could be putting a machine with all my stuff inside and linking to the farm. Is it possible unix-girl?
Thanks! Luis

Hi!
I try to build a mapserver to issue some maps. I
contacted many companies in China who provide virtual
host service. But they say the virtual host can only
support the cgi scripts like perl not the executable
file like "exe". And i can not afford a lot of money
to own a independent server.
Is there some virtual host support executable file as
cgi in the world? Any other suggestion?
Thanks!
