Kieslowski's Dekalog

I remember seeing it as a child on Polish tv. This is probably back in 88 or 89, so I was around 14.. I don't remember it having much of an impact on me at all at that age. Recently I rented it from netflix and have been watching it over the last few days.. What a difference age makes.. these movies are terrific. Depressing, but very descriptive of human nature.

Decalogue in English.. think the ten commandments. Definitely worth watching.

Funny how the foreigners always seem to get the human nature down pretty well. L'Accompinatrice, Kolya (funny one), Leolo, Tu Mama tambien, others whose names don't come to mind just now (probably too depressing heheheh). I think some american films (independent) are starting to get the picture. Of those I reccomend LIE (long island expressway), Chuck and Buck for starters :)
LIE is crazy btw.

This is what I get for reading DSLR forums. Obviously I had to check out Kasia's profile since it sounded soo Polish. Anyway I'm reading thru this posting and find that you mentioned Krzeslowski. I had pleasure to meet him in 1986 while auditioning for the first Dekalog. It ended up being me and Wojtek Klata as the last two standing and Wojtek got the part. Then he went on to do a lot of other movies... he beat me in auditions for Korczak as well.
Back to Kieslowski... the very first impression of him (was barely 10) that I got was that he was plain scary, dark and actually repulsive character. The second impression was better. He was very easy to work with, very clear on what he wants and expects, very friendly and very down to earth. I have never judged people, only on their looks since.
