Snowy day

So it is, and on to random things straight from under my hair..

It snowed today.. quite a bit, morning commute was hell (why did I even bother leaving home? I must be insane, I could have just worked from home). Three spun-out SUVs spotted on the way to work. Hah. Just because you have four-wheel-drive doesn't mean you're above the laws of physics.. no traction means no traction. Why can't people remember that?

Work is busier than busy -- I'll be working all weekend. Delivery in about 3 weeks and I don't even want to think about the shape of the code.. oh, and of course with fewer coders (the recent layoffs) it will be all the more fun.

On the bright side of things.. I ordered my new rackmount server today.. it should be ready sometime next week and Jeremy, the really nice guy that he is, will deliver it to the datacenter for me.. where it will be hosted by a friend's hosting company. Friends rule.

I have one question. What the hell happened to Red Hot Chili Peppers? They used to be a bit hip, a little different and a somewhat cool band.. now it's all random-mainstream-love-sick-crap. Yuck.

That particular friend rules more than others.

Yup, friends are nice.

And school was in fact cancelled due to the weather today...:-)

Yeah, it totally sucks being out here in Los Angeles where it's warm and sunny so that nothing ever gets canceled...

Especially when you have the cold days in the winter where no girls are sunbathing on the beach...

I'm never going back to CT, or WI, or IL...

I think The Chili Peppers are still a cool progressive band, but the problem is all the other mainstream bands they are stealing their style so they become difficult to differentiate from musical thieves they are immersed in. I cant even count how many Eddie Vedder ripoffs there are, and the same goes for Kurt Cobain ripoffs. And then you have the california punk sound which is pretty shit to begin woth, and they are all indistinguishable from eachother.

These rip-off bands and the people who produce them are all thieves and criminals and deserve to be thrown in jail for crimes committed to music.

unlike danny, i think the red hot chili peppers are sell out hacks that haven't had a good record since Mother's Milk. and yes, i am a pretentious indie-rock snob.

I dont really listen to Chilli Peppers or any of the mainstream schlock on the radio, but they have a certain degree of respectability above the rest of them sell outs. I'm not into them Chilli Peppers, but I wouldn't say they they are a plague to the mainstream music scene either.

I like Flea from Chilli Pepperss (I think hes the drummer). He played one of the nihilists in Big Lebowski and I believe one of Biff Tannen's henchmen in Back to the Future. Flea appears to be a cool dude.

Flea is the basist. He's actually very skilled and quite talented.
