Hello spammer..

Through the amazing powers of grep and various other assorted unix utilities I think I can conclusively say that whoever is the proud owner of 64.237.60.52 is a referer spammer.

Out of the 50 or so domains that two websites on my server were spammed with, this one IP is common to all.. and is the first hit with such referer.. consistent browser string, not a bot and very pingable.

Yea, that IP and the other one mentioned in my comment on your referrer spam article earlier today (the 216.* one) are the two that were hitting me as well. Kill! Kill!

Not that I'd notice now, as they are blocked at the firewall.

Of course, the only automated way to stop this type of spamming is to have a verification routine that goes through your referer list (outside your blog of course) and assures that links to you found on other web pages are within "a" tags, not "link" or "img" tags.

Probably wouldn't be all that difficult to do really...I'll see if I can cook something up in the next little while. Ah, who am I kidding? I won't get it done until it starts to threaten my site. ;)
