I suppose that's putting it lightly.
Why, why, oh why do they try so hard to circumvent spam filters? Isn't it rather obvious that a person who uses filtering is thoroughly uninterested in viewing their offer of a larger penis, bigger breasts all while chewing viagra and paxil?
Surely, there must be a better way to market to the gullible.. if I was so uh, well, dumb, as to believe the products they're pushing work.. I probably would not be using spam filters..
It's just so frustrating..
1. Spamassassin let it through.
2. Apple mail client didn't notice it.
3. Well.. I did and deleted, congrats? You got me to hit my delete button?
Who is the idiot who buys from these people, I want to kick his ass.

The problem is simple. Spammers sell a service to _their_ customers, the ones flogging product. Spammers sell the e-mail equivalent of "page views", not the e-mail equivalent of "click-throughs". So, spammers have an incentive to get the message through, even if they know you don't want to see it.
At the same time, _advertisers_ don't have an incentive to stop hiring spammers, because they don't take the heat (the spammers do instead), and _some_ people continue to click and purchase.
#More and more ISP's install spam filters upstream, hence protecting even users who don't have a filter installed on their machine.
These users represent a huge proportion of peopoe who might be tempted to buy products advertised in spam emails, hence the tireless efforts of spammers to outsmart filters.
#Are you using DCC with spamassassin?
#you are so right - I cannot read the spams any more time - why is it possible?
#You are so right. I get vicodin and viagra spam every day. Some are filtered, some pass but they will never get me to buy their products. That kind of advertising must be very ineffective if they really have to pay per viewed spam-mail...
#And one day spammers will get smart and start bundling their other offers with ones for laxitives... that way it'll pass through and prevent blockage...
Spammers spam for one reason...it works.
An acquaintance of mine is in the spamming 'biz' and the conversion numbers are truly shocking; right up there with 'traditional' mass (snail) mailing programs but, obviously, without the postage cost.
#they got me too. the activities like deleting spam mails and cleaning up my mailbox has become in such a way time consuming, that i installed an anti spam weapon named popfile. after some training it works quite successful, but as i do not wanna lose good mails it's necessary to lookup up all the filtered mails, which is a time consuming procedere as well, at least if you have to check 5 mailboxes.
#I'll Join you in kicking his ass
#I've come across a very good article at Kasia's blog. She notes the stupidity of the spammers when its blatantly obvious that some people just don't want the mail... So why bother trying again? Because they are commercial weasels. Money, money, money

kasia in a nutshell: I don’t understand spammers Kasia makes a good point about spammers which is, simply, why go through the trouble to avoid filters if the people that put up the filters are obviously not interested in any...
