Life with cats

I went to bed with the best intention to wake up early and go for a run. My cats apparently decided otherwise and forgot to tell me.

2am: I wake up to *scritch* *scritch*... stumble into the hallway from whence the sound came to be greeted by a wide-eyed kitty standing in front of a closed bedroom door. Okay kitty.. opened the door went back to bed.

2:30 am: *scritch* *scritch*.. stumble into the hallway from whence the sound came to be greeted by a wide-eyed kitty standing in front of an open bedroom door. Gave kitty the evil eye "no kitty, bad kitty!", went back to bed.

3:00am: *scritch* *scritch*.. stumble into the hallway from whence the sound came to be greeted by, you guessed it, a cute, innocent-looking kitty in front of an open bedroom door. **BAAAD KITTY** "Stop it!". Pick up one kitty, remove one kitty from the hallway, put one kitty in another bedroom, stomp off to bed.

3:30am: *scritch* *scritch*.. stomp madly into the hallway ready to make kitty-stew (and I'm a vegetarian[0]).. Very innocent-looking kitty standing in the same hallway in front of the same open-bedroom door.. Brain-kicked in... kitty standing, doing nothing, door open.. but there's another door directly across the hallway that is closed.. the bathroom door..

Counted my kitties.. one missing.. open bathroom door, pitiful-looking kitty runs out in the general direction of the litter box.

Sigh, I have two cats, I just don't always remember when half-asleep.

[0] - Sort off. I eat fish.. but since they're not cute and cuddly do they really count as meat?

Cows and Pigs aren't cute and cuddly either (at least not the ones that get raised for food)... neither are chickens (dirty smelly birds)

... so I guess if you exclude pork, beef, and chicken, I'm a vegetarian as well.

They stop getting innocent looking once they grow up and start with the claws..the ones that I were around for a week startled easily and as a reaction decided to nail me with their claws.

How old are the young bunch?

I had a similar thing last night at my parents' house... one of my parents' cats kept on scratching at the door like he often does when he wants to be let in, and so I decided to just ignore him and try to keep sleeping. Perhaps an hour later I realized that the scratching was coming from inside my room, and opened the door to let him out.

Good that you do not have dogs. No *scratch.. scratch* for them. They communicate by opening their mouth and drooling spit all over your face. :-)

Well Kasia, look at it this way; everything that has two eyes is meat! Since fish do have two eyes they are considered meat :-)

If ya go by the cute and cuddly part, does that mean you get to eat humans? There's level to vegetarian-ism just like all things. By giving up beef, chicken and pork I'd call ya a vegetarian but not vegan or meatan or porkan. Personally I like eating food that was once alive, which leaves a fairly open menu.

Sorry - cranky from the debacle that was route 8 and 95 this morning.

Kasia - be thankful it was just scratching. Lately I've been woken up by my big black cat sitting on my chest or lying beside me (depends on how I sleep) licking my nose. Sometimes licking inside my nose. Most disturbing first thing in the morning. On the other hand, he acts like a second alarm clock and generally wakes me up by meowing beside me if I oversleep (probably because he's used to being fed in the morning, but I like to think of it as him helping me wake up).

Oh, and he's the same one who will lick my nose when I get out of the shower (reaching out with claws to convince me to move closer if I'm not within tongue reach). Do cats have nose fetishes?

Have you any pictures of these cats? Being a cat fanatic myself (in the process of getting a stray ready to live indoors here), I always like to see the trouble making kittens that people have.
