Gave myself a giftmas present.. the new Canon Rebel dslr camera. I haven't read the manual yet, so this picture is taken with pure automatic settings without flash but using a tripod.
Took me a while to convince myself to spend this kind of money ($999) for a camera.. but heck, you only live nine times!

Cool!
I actually just ran across a review of the various lense options for Digital Rebel or EOS-10D camera's today, at http://www.photo.net/equipment/canon/300D/EOS_300D_lenses.html, and I thought it was pretty useful. Depending on your level of photography-fu perhaps you will.
After reading it I convinced myself to purchase my own 'giftmas' present for myself, a Canon 20-35mm Wide Angle Zoom lense, for my 10D. The 1.6x multiplier really makes you want something with a wide angle from time to time, and the 10D doesn't have anything like that special 18-55mm lense they make for the Digital Rebel, so I was pretty much stuck spending a fair amount on a wide angle lense...
Now to sit around and wait for it to show up so I can play with it! ;-)
#Just a public service announcement... that link in the comment above is a dud because there's a comma at the end. Not sure if this was Garrett's typo or some bad kasia-sided scripting, but I felt the need to point this out.
(Just trying to show I'm the alpha dog by getting to the bone first!)
#Cool. That is a good camera. Enjoy it!
#Lucky! I was lusting after one of those, but then I got to try the new digital *ist from pentax. Oh my... about half the size of the rebel (and twice the cost), but fits nicely into the hand and has a nifty menu/button scheme. Very nice. I can't afford it, and keep on trying to figure out ways that I could get the money and *not* put it into say, a house downpayment.
That and I have a perfectly good 35mm SLR and a digital cam (a70), so I don't *need* a $2-3000 digicam....
Donations anyone?
#That really is an awesome photo considering you haven't altered any settings. Remember the pic of your Christmas tree you posted last year? Huge difference :)
