While I take pictures often, it's normally out in the middle of nowhere.. in a park.. on trails.. rarely around other people. I've yet to be asked to show an ID anywhere.. but then I find using a monopod looks less suspicious than using a tripod, and of course.. I'm white.
Unlike this poor photographer.
At what point will people realize this is making our country into a police state? I hope soon.

It would appear that the world has lost the plot!
You can seldom do anything innocently any more. Particularly travelling - I am British, working in the USA for the US Government. Every single time I come through INS I get the Spanish inquisition - the same goes for my team. I wouldnt mind, but we come here all the time, we develop technology to solve the very thing they're trying to achieve, and we still get grief!!
Unless America stops and considers the reality of what it's doing, it will lose all it's remaining allies, tourism and business abroad will cease, and the economy will suffer dire consequences!
We all want to live in a safer world, but there are smart ways to do it, and obnoxious, over the top ways to look like we're doing it. Sadly, the poor photographer you mention looks like a had a serious dose of the latter!
Rant over... and out!
Can't be suspicious of a 30 yr old girl with her dRebel..I would be suspicious of Mr. I got a big-a*s SUV with a lot of money from somewhere else..
