There was a weekend?
"Two towers" was quite good.. New Zealand looks incredibly beautiful.. and while the movie may not be the earth shattering experience for me that it is for some.. I did enjoy watching it very much. Christmas tree is up and here's a picture of it for you.. well, a part of it.. It's a fake (in case it's not very obvious), I can't quite stomach cutting down a tree that took years to grow just to throw it out two weeks later. Plastic for me, thank you. It's really rather difficult to take a decent picture of a decorated tree. With flash, it all looks fake and plastic and can't see the pretty lights, without flash it's either too dark or too grainy and cannot really see much other than dim colors and lights. Hence I opted for flash and cutting out a part that looks semi-interesting. The picture of the whole tree looks pretty crummy. |

It may seem counter-intuitive, but a real tree isn't a bad thing. They are grown on farms, much like any crop. People stop consuming them, and the cropland goes to other uses. The more trees people buy, the more there will be of them.

Oh, I know.. this is just a personal quirk.. Grown as a crop or otherwise, I still can't stomach it.

Plastic trees are much better: They're basically petrochemical products, so they help fuel the need to drill in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge. And the cardboard packaging was made from old-growth-forest trees.

Go to farm, hack at it with an axe until it falls, pick it up, drag it to the truck, and set it up in the stand. Plus its biodegradable!
That's what we do!

I forgot to mention all the fuel needed by the ships and trucks getting the product across the ocean to you from the child-labor camps in China.

At least your heart was in the right place! :)
Friends can give you info like such so you can live a fuller life. Trees dont have a nervous system, and they bleed sugar! Im sure cutting a tree down cant be that bad.
If you dont want to cut the tree down, a fake tree is likely to last 10-20 years. Thats 10-20 less cut farm trees, but its still produced by child labour. A lot of pros and cons for each. A real tree smells nicer and is still alive when its in your house and probably is doing the photosynthesis deal as well.
If the old tree is chopped up and mulched, it can be thrown back in the forest where its molecules will be reborn in new tree growth!
its all how you look at it! :)
