My cats seem to always have a way of getting in the way when my wife and I are trying to work. If your cat is anything like mine she is probably trying to keep warm under the light on your desk.
My cat doesnt chase my Logitech, but instead it walks all over the keyboard, and sometimes it even lays down over my hands, to get attention while i type. Also when it was younger it liked to lay on top of my monitor (was hot there) and try to catch the pointer on the screen.

My kitty Harry looks and acts just like yours... it's infinitely annoying.

When they site on your lap and try and bite / paw at your arm when you type it's just as bad. Mine like that position also.

I'd try moving the lamp. Cats are notorious for finding a nice warm and cozy place to nap and relax.
Windows with the sun shining though, underneath lamps, on top of monitors, etc.

I have this same problem, though mine seems to prefer to sit ON the laptop. (see link)
