Bowling for Columbine
It's finally out on DVD.. I've been waiting to buy it for a long, long time.. and, ironically enough, picked it up at Walmart today (of all places.. hey, LOTR too).
It's such a depressing documentary.. not just the violence, but our society in general.. and now before everyone jumps out with evidence how Moore staged some of the material. Save it.. I've heard it all, doesn't change the fact that we are a society living in fear.
My particular fear right now is of the SUV-driving (hey, gotta get those kids to school over the rocky, paved roads of suburbia -- can't have them walking a whole mile!) neighbors. But that's not new.. I'm just more depressed about it now.
Manson has it right.. scare the crap out of them then sell them an Acura.
With a car alarm.
A gun-rack?

Society living in fear?
I'm not living in fear: I usually walk around Pittsburgh with my Walther P99 on my hip.

Yeah, I hadn't seen it yet, but it certainly made me glad I was Canadian ;)

But...but....but....me and my young Republican club here in Tallookie Ohio have a list of twelve VERY specific spots where Mr. Moore....takes liberties! We didn't really watch the film, we were taking notes so we could e-mail Ann Coulter and Bill O'Reilly!

I loved the movie. Though it is a bit scarry in parts (at least for a european). Makes you glad there is this "Atlantic Ocean". Though Britain is halfway across when it comes to fear (CCTV all over the place).
I read his book "Stupid white men" as well.
You shouldnīt take him to serious, there isnīt much of a thorough scientific method in this documentary, and the few statistics in the Movie are inaccurate (e.g. because they donīt take into account the difference of population).
But itīs good fun!

Every statistic in the film is true.

Yes, Me, you are right. All those 'true' statistics came straight out of 'Arming America' by Michael Bellesiles, and we all know how that book has propelled his career.

Forget about statistics, live in any where other than the US and you'll feel the difference:)
