Ran across this picture when browsing Rasmus's pictures from Bangalore..

Impressive, isn't it? I don't think our president knows what open source is.. heck, I doubt he could spell it.

Impressive, sure, but I think this is proof positive that there's fewer TV's in India than there are hamburgers... I mean since TV hit the US, we haven't elected a disasterously ugly leader. Ok, maybe Nixon, but could you imagine if more people knew FDR was in a wheelchair before his first election? Or maybe the rest of the world doesn't put that much weight into looks like we do...

Either way, I feel like I should start eating more Indian if I want to keep an IT job.

The problem is that US IT exports as a portion of the economy are tiny compared to India IT exports as a portion of the economy. I don't expect the president to have a high level of awareness on the issue, though I do wish the politicians in general would learn more about the issue.

As far as I know, GWB is a very good speller. :-)

There seem to be a number of *very* clueful pepole in the Indian Government, if I believe what some of the locals told me. And I really have no reason to doubt 'em.

A couple of corrections... The Indian President is not elected directly by the people. Rather, he is nominated and voted by the elected members of parliament(who are voted directly by the people).

However, this particular president is so popular that he would probably win hands down even if he were to be elected directly. And we are proud to have him as our president!
