There and back again

I used to use a news aggregator.. no really, I promise I did, but then along the way something happened... I decided I was receiving too much information - I suppose one could call it an overload.. or maybe I just got tired of reading so much all the time and I nixed my aggregator.. So for the last year and a half or so, I've just been reading a few weblogs from bookmarks.

Life was good.

Until recently when I realized I was not reading enough. What can i say, it's not easy to make me happy.

So I'm back to using an aggregator and subscribing to more feeds than is recommended by the American Dental Association.

Let's see how long this phase lasts... Honestly, I wish I could just pick one way of doing things and stick with it.

You'd be too much like a guy then. :-)

The trick for was to nix my subscriptions to high-volume newsfeeds, and only follow actual blogs and maybe newsletters that update once every couple of days at most. Now my aggregator[1] is a place where I can get a few bites of information whenever I look at it, but without ever consuming an inordinate amount of time.

You should give Bloglines http://www.bloglines.com a try. I went through the same phase, but then I stuck to Bloglines... it really does make reading the sites you follow easier.

My take on it is that I just throw it in Bloglines, and forget about it for awhile. If something good comes up..all the better. No information overload, no nothing. :-)

I like blo.gs.

I use http://www.aaronsw.com/2002/rss2email/
does exactly what it says on the tin, works a treat!
