I just can't win
My bloody coffee maker died this morning. It led a good, long life of over 10 years, but still.. I can't be without coffee in the morning!

Does Starbucks deliver?
If they don't, I think they should ... for free ... espcially in a crisis situation like this.
A geek without her/his coffee? Code red alert!

Doesn't drinking coffee lead to exploitation of third-world workers by big evil companies (like Starbucks).
I hate Starbucks for other reasons though - way over priced for stupid foo-foo stuff.

I switched to brewing using a french press... which is unlikely to break unless I drop it.
That sucks about your coffee maker though. :/

I only can recommend a old percolator type coffee maker made in stainless steel.
French press are nice too, but if reliability counts, Here are my 2cents: I'm still using my grandfather stainless steel coffee maker (about 40 years old) and it still works well, easy clean and it cannot break unless you really want to.

Drip coffee is way better. I like those little things where you just put them on top of your cup or a thermos and put a filter and grounds in, and then use a tea kettle to heat up the water. 100% reliable, and way more durable than even an old percolator or French press.

I should be a total disaster, I broke 3 of these....

why not just take a cup, put in 2+ teaspoons of coffee and pour boiling water over? if you don't mix it for at least 30 secs you won't even have coffee grains floating around and sticking between teeth. null problemo :)

Whatever happened to Necessity singing with the Mothers of Invention, eh?

ve's suggestion can work. I'd recommend putting the coffee into an empty tea bag to help keep the grinds under control. You should be able to find empty tea bags in most stores by the tea and coffee stuff.

French Press and your own coffee grinder. Neither of them are expensive. Buy the coffee beans and grind you own as necessary. Yum! The freshness does make a difference. Coffee maker == icky coffee.

You could try ordering some coffee from Gevalia (I think that spelling is right). They used to give away a free coffee machine when you bought $30 worth of coffee. Their coffee is expensive, but I hear it's really good.

I should have deduced from the hours you tend to keep that you liked bloody coffee.
