I've decided to forgive you for this infraction -- mostly because I don't know why it was a stupid question.
Not being a web developer, I'm going to throw out the guess that SOAP is HTTP-based, and since it's client-server, it's hard to do in both directions at the same time?
Am I warm?

I'm not familiar with soap, other than the kind I use in the shower. I hope you weren't refering to that particular type.

Yes, soap is usually quite synchronous with taking showers. Shampoo too.

At least you only asked the question...I spent 2 hours last week (on a non-web related project) trying to figure out why I couldn't just keep my socket to port 80 open...y'know to speed those requests up. This with 3 years of web service experience...sigh.

I usually call them blonde moments. Every one can have them once in a while... Even me, and I'm definately not blonde.
It is a common thing in our office for the engineers to have the odd blonde moment each week. (No offence to blondes intended at all I promise!)
It's a shame your not over here in the UK, we are planning on doing a girly geek dinner, it would have been good to have you come along. Let me know if you are ever visiting London and we can see if we can organise a dinner for you to attend...
