My mom is not the kind of person who is easily talked into going away on vacation to some new, unknown place.. so I was pretty surprised when she asked for help with planning her current one.. We did find her a lovely resort that was within her price range and located about 70 miles south of Cancun, Mexico. She's there now. Although no longer in the resort as they were evacuated to some school.. at least that's s much as I know.
Sigh, I'll never again be able to talk her into going *anywhere*.

My sister's vacationing in Cancun. Last we heard, she's hunkered down in a hotel, about 5 miles inland. She reports that she has plenty of food and water.

Your mum did know that the Yucatan isn't exactly a safe spot this time of year before she went, right?
On the bright side though, she'll at least come out of this with a story more interesting than having just sat on the beach sipping drinks with little umbrellas in them all day long.
