Connecticut is starting to get interesting

A Whole Foods just opened near me (yay, fresh organic produce at a lower price than withered organic produce at local not-so-super-market) and tomorrow a Trader Joe's is opening nearby... and to top it all I discovered Trinity College has a pretty nice movie theater that plays interesting movies and is only about a 15 minute drive.

Suddenly it's starting to feel like I live in a liberal state or something.

As more people buy organic and healthier foods, more health food stores become viable (as of tomorrow we'll have three stores around here that specialize in organic/health food products, only a year and a half ago we had none), organic foods should become cheaper and ever more people ought to buy them.. which means stores like Stop&Shop and Shaws ought to watch themselves.. their organic produce really stinks in quality and is more expensive than Whole Foods. Yay for tasty fruits and veggies!

Whole Foods cheaper? Around here they're obscenely expensive. Forget them, I'll stick with my local supermarket which does have great stuff and local health food stores.

Nice to see that all these new shops are contributing to urban sprawl...

And I live in a conservative state and we have plenty of health food stores and artsy theaters.

Interesting! Where are the whole foods and trader joe's opening? I've been hoping one of those chains would open up around here eventually. Haven't been to one since I lived in CA.

Also, regarding trinity.. i've been to cinestudio a few times, and really need to go more. It's a great place.

Whole Foods is downtown West Hartford.. right next to that new development and Trader Joe's is in Corbin's Corner were the Gateway store used to be.. next to BestBuy.

Went to see MirrorMask last weekend at Cinestudio.. wonderful, little theater, will definitely go back more than once!

Good to know, i'll have to check that out next time i'm in west hartford!

How was mirrormask? It sounded potentially good.

I've been waiting for both of these to open for ages. Especially since I'm spending most of my time in Hartford these days. I've been spoiled by the amount of Whole Foods in MA. And I've been a big Trader Joe's fan for ages.

And as far as Whole Food's prices, if you shop carefully there are lots of good deals there. And it is definitely competative with the other stores in the area (though that might just be because it's West Hartford).
