Answer to the first question everyone asks about my new car
No, it does not plug in.
Answer to the second question:
No, I did not want the civic hybrid, I like that the Insight is so small and efficient.
The first question has been asked by almost everyone who learned about my new car (including my mom). The second one was every single honda dealer I talked to, except for the one I actualy bought it from. Found them via autotrader.com as one of three dealers in a 300-mile radius that actually had an Insight arriving from the factory soon.
I should trail an extension cord from the trunk.. just for fun!

that rocks. i love those things... if i wasn't so mad for the mountains (and all the brain bashing rocks and ruts that that implies), i'd get one too.

It's definitely the coolest car I ever drove.

#3 Why would you spend so much money on a car whose gas savings won't be worthwhile for at least ten or more years? The snob factor?

Jeremy, what have you been reading :)
The car wasn't that expensive ($21K including all fees and stuff) and I didn't buy it to save money.
Consumer Reports retracted that Hybrid article, they made a mistake in calculations, btw.

Hey, congrats on the hybrid purchase... I picked up my newer car the other day, but when I was looking came across the bybrids at the Honda dealer. The only problem with them that I saw was that I do a lot of highway driving too, probably as much as my city driving, so my fuel savings would have been eaten on the open road.
As for the plugging it in... That's quaint.
Either way, enjoy that sucker... Having seen only the Civic hybrid, and not the one you purchased, the fuel economy on those things is pretty cool. You can't argue with 40-50MPG on a gasoline engine.

When people ask me what the range is I usually reply "it depends how much extension cord I have" :)
That or I tell them I have to leave early to stop by the store and buy 312 AA batteries or the gerbal will die.
Glad to hear you like it so far....
